TOURISM IN SPAIN

Tourism is currently one of the most important economic and cultural activities that a country or a region can count on. According to the World Tourism Organization, tourism consists of trips and stays made by people in places other than their usual environment. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Spain is the third country in number of tourist entries and second in income by tourism, just behind the United States. Tourism is currently one of the most important economic and cultural activities that a country or a region can count on. According to the World Tourism Organization, tourism consists of trips and stays made by people in places other than their usual environment. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Spain is the third country in number of tourist entries and second in income by tourism, just behind the United States. 
Spain is also the top European tourist destination and first world destination in holiday tourism. In previous decades, sun and beach tourism was almost exclusively promoted, contributing to, a much warmer and sunny climate than other European countries. 

Temperatures in summer usually vary between 20 and 40 degrees and many regions have more than 300 days of sunshine per year, with generally dry summers. Many coastal towns are full of hotels, restaurants and apartment buildings at the foot of the beach. 
Spain is the third country in the world in number of foreign tourists, with 80.6 million tourists annually in 2017, second only to France and the United States of America. Tourism represents around 10% of the country's gross domestic product. 

The main tourist destination is Catalonia -as Barcelona is also the main city that receives tourists- followed by the Balearic and Canary Islands. Spain is a tourist country; almost millions of travelers come every year attracted by its beaches, the abundant artistic heritage of the country and the variety of gastronomic offerings, as well as being one of the richest nations in the world's cultural heritage. 
Barcelona is the most visited city in Spain, besides being the capital of Catalonia; it is the most visited autonomous community. Catalonia and Barcelona have become one of the most visited tourist destinations in Spain. It has a history older than Europe. 

Barcelona is a city that never sleeps and including the Costa Brava Beaches and the Costa Dorada. The variety of artistic monuments, churches and the great names of modern art and architecture such as, Dalí, Gaudí, Miró, Picasso, make Barcelona a unique city in Europe. 
Spain is also known for its night life especially in the streets of Cordoba, also many party junkies travel to Ibiza, a small island near Spain, for parties and getaways. The fiestas in Spain are famous all over the globe, Las Fallas in Valencia, San Fermin in Pamplona, La Feria in Sevilla have become the main attractions for people. 

The Teide National Park is the most visited national park in Spain, the most visited in Europe and the second in the world. Also, the tourism in the Canary Islands is a very important factor for the local economy. Due to the subtropical climate that the Canary Islands enjoy, many visitors from Germany, Holland, England and Ireland visit these islands every summer.
