2017 has been a terrific year; a lot of things have happened during this year and it feels that it has flown by real quick. There have political twists, nuclear threats, company acquisitions, cryptocurrency mania, independence movements, silence-breaking and a many more things.

So, here is a quick refresher on the amazing 2017- 


? Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched a record 104 satellites in a single mission. 
? Many computers around the world were affected by a ransomware called ?wanna cry?. Around 150 countries were affected by this. 
? India on 14th September started a new high-speed rail project (bullet train) which will be completed by 2022. The project was inaugurated by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
 ? Ivanka Trump visited India for the ?Global Entrepreneurship Summit?. ? Bitcoin plunged all-time high with 1 Bitcoin reaching up to 20,000 USD.
 ? Disney agreed to acquire 21st Century FOX, In Indian telecom Cellular and Vodafone announced their merger.


? The year kicked off with the United States presidential elections in January and Donald J. Trump defeated the favorite Hilary Clinton to become the 45th US President, there are allegations that Russia influenced the elections and made a toast! On Trump?s win, meanwhile, Women marched in formation to mark the most protested day in history.
? Emmanuel Macron became the president of France and Donald Trump?s administration took a withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement 
? North Korea earned itself international condemnation when it tested a ballistic missile over the Sea of Japan.
 ? The long ongoing Independence movement of Catalonia from Spain was blocked by Spain. 
? USA declared its decision to withdraw from UNESCO.
 ? Germany and Australia legalized same-sex marriage. 

World Events 

? Ariana Grande?s concert in Manchester faced a terrorist attack, killing 22 people and injuring 100 more. 
? 2017 witness the great solar eclipse in a decade and was dubbed as ?the great American solar eclipse?. Prior to this event, no solar eclipse had been visible across the entire contiguous United States since 1918.
 ? Hurricanes took a heavy toll as Harvey, Irma and Maria their fury around the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea causing over$370 Billion (USD) in damages.
? Start of the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar which led to mass dispersion and this was all due to ethnic cleansing. More than 400,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar since August 25, 2017. 
 ? Stephen Paddock committed the deadliest gun crime in American history, as he opened fire on a crowd in Las Vegas and killed 58 people, and injured another 500 or so. ? In 2017 the USA imposed a travel ban on citizens of six Muslims nations along North Korea and Venezuela, France banned oil and gas production and El Salvador became the first country to ban metal mining nationwide. 

Other Events 

? There was a standoff between the armies of India and China in Doklam. This started on 16th June; Chinese troops with construction vehicles and road building materials began extending an existing road to South of Doklam which was claimed by China and India's ally, Bhutan. Indian troops reached Doklam by 18th June with weapons and bulldozers. These standoffs continued until August. 
? India underwent sweeping tax reform when the government passed the Goods and Service Tax (GST) to replace the broader federal taxes. Nawaz Sharif disqualified as Prime Minister of Pakistan 
 ? Producers like Harvey Weinstein had to answer for their awful behavior as brave women spoke out against the assault faced during casting. Thanks to The Silence Breakers who became the saviors and earned the Times person of the year award. 

 ? This year?s Oscars saw a mishap but finally, Moonlight won the Best Movie, the song of the summer was ?Despacito? with over 4.3 billion views now on Youtube. Serena Wiliams and Beyonce had kids.
 ? On July 122 of the 193 UN member states voted for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. But in September North Korea did it?s most powerful nuclear missile test.
 ? British Prince Harry and Suits actress Meghan Markel got engaged 
 ? Saudi Arabia allowed women to drive and to enter sports stadiums. Saudi lifted the ban on public cinemas after 35 years.
