Xiaomi is set to dominate the budget Smartphone market in India this year as well with its recently launched smart phones, the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. After much wait Xiaomi has launched these smart phones in India. Both the new smart phones are more or less in the same budget.

About the Company: Xiaomi Xiaomi Inc. is a Chinese electronics and software company. Xiaomi designs, develops, and sells smart phones, and other consumer electronics. Xiaomi released its first Smartphone in August 2011 and has rapidly gained market share in China to become China's largest Smartphone Company. As of 2017 Xiaomi is the world's 5th largest Smartphone Company. 



 Xiaomi has 15,000 employees in China, India, Malaysia, and Singapore. The Company is also expanding to other countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and South Africa. Lei Jun, the founder and CEO, has an estimated net worth of US$6.8 billion. He is China's 24th richest person in 2017. 

Xiaomi is set to dominate the budget Smartphone market in India this year as well with its recently launched smart phones, the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro. After much wait Xiaomi has launched these smart phones in India. Both the new smart phones are more or less in the same budget. 



Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro have been launched in India at an event in New Delhi, alongside the company's Mi TV 4. In fact, the Mi TV 4 release in the country marks the first time Xiaomi has brought its series of televisions outside China, The pick between the two phones is difficult as both the Smartphone are priced just Rs 4,000 apart. 

So, here is the guide to the two phones, which will help you pick one. 

The Redmi Note 5 



This phone is the successor of the Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi claims to have improved upon the shortcomings. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the newest Smartphone in the league of the most popular smart phones in India, the Redmi Note 4. The Note series of the brand has been highly successful since its launch all because of its high build quality, amazing battery life and ample processing power. 

Features 

Display-There are a lot of features embedded in the smart phone, the Redmi Note 5 is sized at 5.99-inch and offering a 2160x1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. 

Camera-The Redmi Note 5 carries a single camera setup at the back with a 12-megapixel (f/2.2) sensor. Also, The Note 5 is restricted to a 5-megapixel sensor, with an enhanced pixel size and aperture for better low light photography as compared to the Redmi Note 4. 

? The Smartphone runs on the Android 7.1.1 based MIUI 9 and includes a 4000 mAh battery. The connectivity options including a hybrid (Nano) SIM slot. 

? The biggest highlights of the new Xiaomi Note 5 are the presence of the large 5.99-inch 18:9 display, the selfie-light module, as well as the large 4000mAh battery. 



Pricing -The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price in India starts at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant, and goes up to Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant. 

Color options are Black, Gold, Lake Blue, and Rose Gold. 

It will go on sale from February 22 via FLIPKART, Mi Home, and Mi.com. The Smartphone will also go on sale soon via all of Xiaomi offline retail partners.

The company has also aimed to cater to those seeking an extra boost of performance through the step-up variant, the Redmi Note 5 Pro. 



Features

Similarities between the two Phones 

There are a lot of features embedded in the smart phones which are similar. 

? The Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro sport the same display, sized at 5.99-inch and offering a 2160x1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. 

? Even the body dimensions and the weight of both the smart phones is pretty much the same, with a maximum difference of 0.1mm in the length and 1 gram in the weight. 

? Other specifications similar on both the smart phones are the Android 7.1.1 based MIUI 9, 4000 mAh battery and the connectivity options including a hybrid (Nano) SIM slot. The smart phones are also available in the market in the same color options.



 Differences between the two Phones 

? The Redmi Note 5 Pro carries certain upgrades over the Redmi Note 5, the most prominent one being the camera capability of the Smartphone. While, the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a dual camera setup with one 12-megapixel (f/2.2) sensor and one 5-megapixel (f/2.0) sensor for depth effect. 

? Comparing the front cameras, In contrast, the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a whopping 20-megapixel front sensor and AI-based computing for depth effect. Both the smart phones offer LED Selfie Light and are capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. 

? A core segment where the Redmi Note 5 Pro overshadows the Redmi Note 5 is the chipset. Xiaomi has used a Snapdragon 636 processor on the Redmi Note 5 Pro, making it faster, more capable than the Redmi Note 5 which is powered by a Snapdragon 6525 chipset. 

Comparing the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro, the Rs 2,000 price difference would account for a better performance and a much-enhanced camera setup. The performance criteria are refined enough on the Redmi Note 5 Pro to make those extra Rs 2000 worth it. For those strict on their budget, the Redmi Note 5 3GB RAM option is a good buy.
