A look into China and Xi Jinping!

China's constitution states that The People's Republic of China "is a socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants," and that the state organs "apply the principle of democratic centralism. Democratic dictatorship seems to be a paradox as both dictatorship and democracy are miles apart. The PRC is one of the world's only socialist states openly endorsing communism. The Chinese government has been described as communist and socialist, but also as authoritarian and corporatist, with heavy restrictions in many areas, most notably against free access to the Internet, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, the right to have children, free formation of social organizations and freedom of religion. 

 China's constitution declares that the country is ruled "under the leadership" of the Communist Party of China. The incumbent President is Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission. But recently there was a bolt form the blue for the Chinese democracy when it encountered the most dramatic political change which scraped the term limit for China?s president. The move cleared the way for Xi Jinping to stay in power indefinitely and possibly for the whole life. 

Under Xi Jinping term China has been going through seismic social economic and political changes which have happened in a trice and many of these changes revolve around Xi Jinping and puts him on the zenith of power in China. 

 Xi Jinping was born in Beijing on 15 June 1953. He is the second son of Xi Zhongxun and his wife Qi Xin. Xi's father held a series of posts, including propaganda chief, vice-premier, and vice-chairman of the National People's Congress in 1949 which was headed by Mao Zedong.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) 

The initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure, trade, and investment links between China and 65 other countries that account collectively for over 30 percent of global GDP. The BRI consists primarily of the Silk Road Economic Belt, linking China to Central and South Asia and onward to Europe, and the New Maritime Silk Road, linking China to the nations of South East Asia, the Gulf Countries, North Africa, and on to Europe. 

Xi vowed to crack down on corruption almost immediately after he ascended to power at the 18th Party Congress. In his inaugural speech as general secretary, Xi mentioned that fighting corruption was one of the toughest challenges for the party.Within the first two years of the campaign alone, over 200,000 low-ranking officials received warnings, fines, and demotions. 

 Apparently Xi jinping government China banned ?Winnie the Pooh? film after comparisons to President Xi .It started when Xi visited the US in 2013, and an image of Xi and then president Barack Obama walking together spurred comparisons to Winnie ? a portly Xi ? walking with Tigger, a lanky Obama. As comparisons grew and the meme spread online, censors began erasing the images which mocked Xi. The website of US television station HBO was also blocked after comedian John Oliver repeatedly made fun of the Chinese president?s apparent sensitivity over comparisons of his figure with that of Winnie.  

 Xi Jinping?s authoritarian regime has become increasingly repressive in recent years. The ruling ChineseCommunist Party (CCP) is tightening its control over the media, online speech, religious groups, and civil society associations while undermining already modest rule-of-law reforms. The CCP leader and state president, Xi Jinping, is consolidating personal power to a degree not seen in China for decades. The country?s budding civil society and human rights movements have struggled amid a multiyear crackdown, but continue to seek avenues for protecting basic rights and sharing uncensored information, at times scoring minor victories. 

There are no human rights in Communist China and it quells all types of protests ruthlessly but the protests related to religion, secession, democracy and terrorism are crushed more brutally. There are reports about oppression of Christians and other religions but the Government-sponsored repression of Muslims all over China especially in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is unparalleled.
