It?s true that the impact of somebody?s work and life rises to another level once the artist leaves the planet. Our hero here, Karl Lagerfeld was an inspiration for many; he was a creative director, fashion designer, artist, photographer, and caricaturist. This article is a tribute to Karl. 
Karl was famous for his white hair, gloves and black glasses- Being a remarkable fashion guru, Karl had a signature dress code. He always donned his white hair, a pair of black glasses, fingerless gloves and high detachable collars. You can find several photographs of him on the internet, his style always remained the same. 
He misrepresented his age, claiming to be younger than his actual age- Lagerfeld was known to misrepresent his birth year, and to misrepresent his parental background. He claimed that he was born in 1938 to "Elisabeth of Germany" and Otto Ludwig Lagerfeld from Sweden. These claims have been proven to be false, as his father was from Hamburg and spent his entire life in Germany, with no Swedish connection. He was known to insist that no one knows his real birth date. In an interview on French television in February 2009, Lagerfeld said that he was born neither in 1933 nor 1938. Later, in 2013, he stated he was born in 1935. 
Karl?s first design was of a coat in a competition- Karl had moved to Paris for studies, in 1955, He entered a coat design competition sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat. He won the competition and befriended Yves Saint Laurent, and was soon after hired by Pierre Balmain. He worked as Balmain's apprentice for three years. 
He became famous for introducing the fur into the fashion industry- After gaining experience under Jean Patou, Karl did freelancing for multitude of brands including Chloé, Charles Jourdan, Krizia, and Valentino. In 1967, he was hired by Fendi to modernize their fur line. Lagerfeld's innovative designed proved groundbreaking, as he introduced the use of mole, rabbit, and squirrel pelts into high fashion. Lagerfeld remained with Fendi until his death. 
Lagerfeld saved Chanel from the verge of being shut down- Lagerfeld was hired by Chanel in 1980. Since the death of designer Coco Chanel a decade prior, Chanel had lost brand value. Lagerfeld brought life back into the company, making it a huge success by revamping its ready-to-wear fashion line. Lagerfeld integrated the interlocked "CC" monograph of Coco Chanel into a style pattern for the House of Chanel.
