This is the 26th module on learning C with us. Earlier we discussed on the basic introduction and structure of C, preprocessor it's features, intermediate and executable codes. compilation and execution process of a C program. And keywords and identifiers, data types, variables and constants, scope of variables, operators and expressions in C. Type casting in #C. Introduction to input and output functions and reading a character in #C. Unformatted and formatted input functions. Branching statements like if, if-else, nested if-else. In this section we will discuss on the fundamental of a computer, the process unit, components like inputting, storing, processing, outputting, and controlling.
According to Von Neumann architecture the main component of a digital computer are :
Processing Unit :-
Control unit and arithmetic logic unit, is collectively known as central processing unit. In a human body the brain makes all major decision, so as to CPU in a computer system.
All the major calculations and comparisons take place inside the CPU and the CPU is responsible for activating and controlling the operations of the other units of computer system.
Arithmetic logic unit :-
ALU is the unit which performs actual execution of instruction. Data and instructions that are stored in memory before processing are transferred as and when needed to ALU where processing takes place.
ALU are designed to perform four basic arithmetic operations ( add, subtract, multiply, and divide) and logical operations or comparison ( less than, greater than, equal to).
In next module we will continue our discussions on the next topic on different types of another units of fundamental of computers. And ALU and Control units of CPU.
