What are Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word?
A Header appears at the top of the page in any document. It can appear on all pages. A header can include the name of the project/ paper and page number or either of the two
A Footer appears at the bottom of any document. It can include the names of the team members and/or other copyright information or page numbers, or company name etc.
To include a header,
- Click on VIEW and select HEADER AND FOOTER.
- This highlights the area of the Header where you can type in the text you want to appear as header.
To edit the footer,
- Click on VIEW and select HEADER AND FOOTER.
- This highlights the area of the Header where you can type in the text you want to appear as header.
- Use the toolbox and click on the icon which switches between the Header and Footer.
- Once the footer area is highlighted, you can enter the text of the footer.
- Select the page setup icon from the toolbox.
- Select the Layout tab on the window check the option "Different First Page".
