Country of colour and colourful, cultural and religious diversity, of spices and spicy food that’s what India has always looked upon like for the outsiders but this Independence Day, I want to bring in light things that most Indians are unaware of India. List of the facts that all Indians are proud of:
1. India’s First Rocket:-
Guess how India’s first rocket was transported to Thumba Equatorial Launching Station about 54 years ago for the lift-off. It was transported on a bicycle! The rocket was so small weighing only kilos that it could be easily carried in one hand a sharp contrast from the GSLV rockets which are nearly 70 m long and weighing more than 400 tons. The second rocket, which was launched by ISRO sometime later, was a little bigger and heavier and it was transported in a bullock cart for the lift off.
2. Chess was invented by Indians:
The precursors of chess originated in India during the Gupta Empire, where its early form in the 6th century was known as Chaturaṅga, which translates as "four divisions (of the military)": infantry, cavalry, elephantry, and , represented by the pieces that would evolve into the modern pawn, knight, bishop, and rook, respectively.
3. Diamonds were discovered in INDIA( Until 1986, the only place where diamonds had been officially found was in India):
The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years At the time of their discovery, diamonds were valued because of their strength and brilliance, and for their ability to refract light and engrave metal. Diamonds were worn as adornments, used as cutting tools, served as a talisman to ward off evil, and were believed to provide protection in battle. In the Dark Ages, diamonds were also used as a medical aid and were thought to cure illness and heal wounds when ingested.
4. India has the largest amount of vegetarians in the world:
India has so much vegetarian population, that Pizza Hut had to open their first pure vegetarian restaurant in the country and KFC had to introduce a “vegetarian” menu for India also did McDonald's, the world’s largest fast-food manufacturer.
5. Chai (TEA- National Drink Of India):
Indians typically serve tea in their homes several times a day. India is the world’s largest producer of tea and 70% of its production is consumed with in India. In April 2013, Chai (tea) was officially declared as the national drink of India.
6. World biggest family lives in India: The man with 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren:
Ziona Chana has 94 children, 14 daughter in law and 33 grandchildren. They live in 100 room, 4-storey house set amidst the hills of Baktwang village in the Indian state of Mizoram, where the wives sleep in giant communal dormitories. The family in with all 181 members
7. India is the largest milk producer in the world:

8. India is the largest producer of films in the world:
The history of Indian cinema goes back to 19th century. In 1896, the first shot by brothers was shown in Bombay. was shot in hanging gardens in Mumbai known as “The Wrestlers” it was a sample recording of a wrestling match which was screened in 1899 and is considered as a first motion picture in the Indian film industry. The father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke released first ever feature film “Raja Harishchand” in 1930 and today is the largest film producing country On an average 1000 movies in India are produced.
9. Discovery of shampoo:
A shampoo service was introduced by a Bengali entrepreneur Sake Mohammad who opened shampooing hair wash known as Mohammad’s Indian vapour bath in Brighton, England in 1759.
10. India is the world’s largest importer of arms ironically has never invaded or attacked a country:
India remains the largest weapons importer over a 5 year period according to the latest report of Stockholm international peace research institute (SIPRI) on global purchases released April 2016.
