How to learn Spanish?

Find out what things you need to do, in order to learn Spanish Language

How to learn Spanish?

There is a fine line between learning a language and speaking a language. We want to learn a language in order to speak it and to interact with people. Well, most of the people learn vocabulary and grammar of a language but are not able to speak it. This is due to lack of talking in real time.

Spanish is considered one of the easiest languages for a native English speaker to learn. The grammar and sentence structure is different from English but simpler. Because both languages have Latin roots, they also share thousands of cognates – words that sound the same and have the same meanings.

Learning and speaking will require using multiple resources to achieve true fluency.

Here are a few steps that will help you get hold of a Language-

• Learn about Spanish Vocabulary and Grammar: Your mobile phone is enough for you to learn the vocabulary and grammar. There are many free applications and it’s super easy to get started. Apps and software have turned the learning experience into a fun game, rewarding you for your progress and sending you lots of reminders so that you don’t slack off. Apps teach you some good vocabulary and grammar.

Some apps that will help you learn a language are-

Duolingo - duolingo.com is very great to learn basic vocabulary and grammar. The lessons are like games, making it much less likely that you'll get bored with the learning. You can learn Spanish, Chinese, French, German and many more languages via Duolingo.

Talk -Once you know some basic vocabulary and grammar, you need to start using it in everyday scenarios. This app is basically a Language Learning Community that gets you to practice reading/writing in Spanish on a live feed, with people from all over the world! It's also really helpful for those are naturally shy or who want to practice their Spanish with other people "anonymously".

• Listening and Understanding: Getting your ears used to the language is essential if what you want to decipher it, and eventually understand it. Educational YouTube videos and CDs can be very helpful in the short-term, but we all know that those aren’t very accurate of how an actual native speaks. Native speakers of a language don’t talk slowly or they pronounce every sound carefully.

If you want some ‘real’ practice, I recommend that you watch TV series or movies in Spanish. Start with English subtitles, and when you feel the more comfortable switch to Spanish subtitles. Slowly but surely you will realize that you won’t even need subtitles once you reach a point - plus, you can discover new things that you may enjoy, so the learning process will be even easier.

• Reading Spanish Text: Once you’ve learned some grammar and pronunciation basics (whether it is in school, an academy or just through the internet), it’s time to start reading. Start small; maybe try reading your favorite book but just in Spanish this time. Have a dictionary next to you at all times and don’t be afraid to read aloud. If you don’t know how to pronounce something, look for it. It doesn’t necessarily have to book; you can also read local news, articles, forums or websites.

• Speaking the Language: Speaking is an essential part of the learning process. The ideal way for you to achieve this would be to find some people to practice with, but since that always isn’t the case there is some other stuff you can do by yourself that can drastically improve your spoken Spanish. About pronunciations, you can always read out loud or watch something (a video, movie, podcast, etc). You can always go to and interact with native people or people knowing Spanish. Also, you can use apps like Hello Talk to speak to people who want to learn the same language as you.
